Code of Conduct

All players must abide by our Code of Conduct: each player is responsible for reading and understanding our Code of Conduct; ignorance is not an excuse for poor behavior.

This is a non-exhaustive list of disallowed behaviors, and applies to any Portal to Ferrum (PtF) events, online spaces, and meetups.

1a. Harassment of any kind is not acceptable towards anyone, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, mental or physical disability, veteran status, genetic information, or physical appearance.

1b. Harassment includes, but is not limited to: inappropriate physical contact, unwelcome sexual attention, offensive verbal comments, deliberate out-of-game intimidation, stalking or following someone, making harassing photography or recordings, disrupting talks or other events. Anyone asked to cease such unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately.

1c. Harassment or Abuse as defined by local laws are to be complied with by all members at all times. Use your head and be respectful towards others.

2. It is up to an individual to decide what makes them uncomfortable; any request to stop interacting with them in any manner is to be followed immediately. Failure to respect the personal space or personal comfort of a player may be met with a warning by an event coordinator, a request to leave the event, and/or banning from future events, per the coordinator's discretion.

3. Hate Speech and Symbols: Many symbols have been created or appropriated by various hate-groups. Care must be taken when designing and presenting garb, banners, flags, and even visible tattoos, so that an average onlooker would not mistake it for the symbology of any groups that would use similar distasteful or offensive symbols, regardless of the symbols other meanings; ie. a swastika will never be allowed, despite its various meanings in other contexts and world religions, because it is a Nazi symbol. Any questions or concerns regarding this should be directed towards PtF staff.

4. Sexual activity in public structures is not allowed. A public structure is any building rented by the organization for communal use, including bathrooms, lean-tos, pavilions, or cabins. Intimate relations with others are strictly limited to private tents, and any disruption caused by such activities, even if performed outside of public spaces, will be cause for staff intervention.

5. Usage of Alcohol and Recreational Drugs is not permitted at any PtF events. Exceptions for the usage of medical marijuana will be examined and given on a case-by-case basis: anyone without an exception from staff, or otherwise partaking in Alcohol or Recreational Drugs, may be asked to leave the site.

6. Discussion of real-world politics and religion is discouraged, especially in-character. Those engaging in these topics will be reminded that PtF events are not the time and place for these things. Those who continue to engage after being warned or who engage excessively may be asked to leave the event.

Official statement regarding members banned in other LARPs

As a LARP, our player base overlaps largely with other LARP and LARP-adjacent communities. We cannot, in good conscience, ignore the reports made against any players at other games’ events that maintain a similar code of conduct. We will trust, honor, and mirror the rulings and punishments found through such investigations, in order to provide a safe experience for everyone who partakes in our game.

We obey all suspensions and bans from the following organizations/games:

Hearthlight, Amtgard Goldenvale, and SCA East Kingdom

Suspensions and bans from these groups must be disclosed to us. If it is found a player has misrepresented the state of a suspension or ban in another community, immediate action will be taken to permanently remove them from our game.
